The Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury
have had before Them Mr Bramston's letter of the 5th instant enclosing the Draft of an Ordinance to prohibit the un- authorised issue of Notes in Hong Kong.
In reply, I am to request you to inform the
Marquess of Ripon that They concur in the draft Ordinance,
It may however be well, in view of the action of the
Chartered Bank of India,&c. in the Malay Protected States, to prohibit the circulation of Bank Post Bills as well as the other Notes specified.
